proud parent | 5 years young

on her birthday she chose to eat in n out at the beach (a picnic with her papa) drink horchata, see the ducks at the park and have baja fish tacos made by mama and papa for dinner. loved the day she chose!
after just reading through the posts from birthdays one, two, three and four...i'm reminded how important it is for me to document these milestones. i love looking back and seeing how i thought she was such a "big girl" then and now reflecting on that time, she looks like such a baby (and truly she was a baby). with each year passed i forget what was being learned, what was exciting to her and what we were so thrilled about! so here is 5.

i feel like a proud parent and i can't imagine what it feels like when they get to twenty. although i've had this thought before, i have been really thinking this birthday round: "wow, we have successfully raised our child to age 5!" i know i'm a smart and capable woman and the hubby has his head on his shoulders too ;), but with all those moments of doubt about the decisions you make, the sleepless nights in the beginning (who's kidding, still interrupted sleep) and the occasional urgent doctor visits...i feel proud that we have done some things right! she is inquisitive, healthy, gracious, a lover of life, a papa's-girl, a dancer, singer, enthusiast of all things science, nature, art and literature. she is our girl! i cannot wait to see how she continues to grow and the person she becomes. it's fascinating to be a parent! happiest of birthdays to my big girl evia. you fill mama's heart and all those around you.

evia's frozen yogurt party consisted of vanilla yogurt individually packaged (with evia's silhouette) for each guest to add with their favorite frozen yogurt topping!
