get away? let me think about it. yes!

when my mom suggested a girls get away at the end of may, i thought about it for point 2 seconds. i said i would ask d as a formality, but i was IN. i haven't had an "escape" since i was a mama to one. a trip to palm desert for two nights, sounded like the perfect trip to test the waters of being away. although, i knew it would be rough (on me more than on them), i also knew that taking time for me makes me a better mama. mila tends to need me a whole lot. one, she's still a mini, two, she was still nursing and three, she has a broken leg. i liked the idea of diegas and the girls getting some quality time to be one on one too. evia and d used to have that a lot when we were a family of three and i think it's made their bond so strong. mila getting to experience straight-papa time, would be a blessing. (silver lining, the nursing came to an end while i was gone, a smooth transition, whew).
i was terribly sick the week leading up to the trip, but the sun rose on friday morning and i was as good as new, so thankful! mama and em scooped me up at the bright hour of eight and we hit the road. nothing was on the agenda, but to eat, shop, relax, sun, swim, massages, watch movies, chat...you get the picture - a whole lot of nothing. if there are any mama's (or papa's) out there who are contemplating taking a trip and you never are able, do it. whatever it is, even if it's just up the road to do what you love. the break from the routine is so good for the mind, body and soul! we gained perspective on things, had adult conversation that was uninterrupted and nourished our bodies. thank you mama - grateful, grateful, grateful. gotta send a shout-out to the hubby too. allowing me a chance to get away and taking such care of our beauties, was heaven.
leaving these faces wasn't easy, but coming home to them was magic
my transportation + entertainment

walking into the hotel lobby and being greeted with champagne was a great precursor

i received photos like this, letting me know home-with-papa was pretty fun

more fun photos from papa. the girls first crawfish boil (where they could partake!)
